Groundswell Band

Groundswell is a “coming together” of seasoned musicians who have all played in several bands over the years. Together they feel that they have found the right combination; from their first practice together they have felt a synergy that has continued to grow and thrive. The members of this group have been involved in various musical projects over the years, playing a variety of music, from cover songs to original compositions. With a nice mix of female and male vocal talents, Groundswell can tackle a wide variety of genres, and are able to adapt their song selection to fit the needs of any performance. They can play a tender ballad, a familiar old rocking’ dance tune, or something more modern. They refuse to categorize themselves as a band that plays only a certain type of music. Their members are based in and around the Oceanside area, except for keyboardist Adrian Proctor who resides in the Cowichan Valley.

Meg Keene - Lead Vocals

Megan Keene is a singer, choir leader, and musician, who has a passion for creating better, stronger, and healthier community through sharing music. She has been co-leader of the Sound Connection Choir for 5 and a half years, and has offered personalized Arts in Healthcare programs in the Oceanside community. Megan was a vocalist in the Original Indie band Counting Time, and is excited to take the position of lead vocals in Groundswell

In 2015 Megan completed the intensive Choir Leadership Training Program in Victoria B.C. and the SongShineTM Certification training in May 2016

Doug Pickard - Drums & Vocals

Doug started on the drums at the tender age of 12. As no one else ever wanted to sing, he learned from the start to sing while playing the drums simultaneously. He has played in a variety of bands over the years, slowly coming to realizing the addictive quality of playing music and the inability to resist its lure… Besides a host of cover bands, Doug was fortunate to have the opportunity to record an album with the original Indie band Counting Time. After this Doug helped form the popular Rumble Beach cover band, with whom he played two consecutive street dance parties for the Qualicum Beach Show and Shine event. Doug is excited for the future with Groundswell…

Jim Sinclair - Guitar/Coffee Machine

Jim has been playing guitar in many musical groups since the 1960s.
Following some high school 1962-4  fun, the first serious band was The BroomTown Band, 1965. (Also, played bass in some bands in the Starlite Lounge in Victoria.)
BroomTown had many performances around the Island, plus the battle of the bands, coming close to winning best group in B.C.
